Make up at your friends’ request
minor defects in case they ask.
Such that any good man
should smile at compassionately.
Never censure
an act whose practice
did not belong to you,
even those that nagged you.
Our circumstances, we alone know them,
and even that is no big deal after all,
as a tree never knows for certain
where all of its fruits may fall.
And thus, each of us
only by herself can deserve
punishment
or solace.
